Extra Credit
There are several opportunities to get extra credit.
Reading
- Students that take home their books before a test and reread their story will receive and extra 5 points. They must have parent initials as verification on the study sheet or in their assignment books prior to the test.
- I require two book reports per quarter. Students will receive 50 bonus points at the end of a grading period if the reports have been turned in.
Math
- After students have taken a test, they are allowed to correct their tests and get a parent signature for 5 extra credit points.
- Extra practice sheets may be available throughout the year. Extra points will vary.
Science
- After students have taken a test, they are allowed to correct their tests and get a parent signature for 5 extra credit points.
- Students that bring in and summarize newspaper articles about the topic we are studying will receive 5 extra credit points.
- Students can bring a "show and tell" that has to do with the topic of study and describe or explain its significance with the class for 5 points.
- Students can make a poster with no less than 5 pictures and captions that enhance the topic of study for 10-15 extra credit points.
- Students may write a report to enhance the unit of study. The report should be no less than one page long and must have a bibliography. Plagiarism is not allowed. Students may earn 10-20 points depending on the sources and content of their report.
- Students may do a combination of the poster and report for 15-25 points.
Daily Assignments
- Students are allowed to redo an assignment for a better grade. If they have received a grade lower than a 60% they will receive no less than a 70%. If they redo a paper higher than a 60%, they will receive 10 extra points. All mistakes must be corrected and turned in within a week after the paper is returned.
- Mrs. Longacre requires papers less that 70% to be fixed and returned.
